I chased storms for a decade starting in 1971 while living in Texas, New Mexico and Missouri. As a professional photographer, I wanted the photos to be more than just the capturing a lightning bolt against a dark sky. Lightning and the Gateway Arch
A rainbow in New Mexico with lightning
I wanted the images to be good landscape photographs able to capture the sweep of the land and put the size and power of the storms in perspective.
The challenge was to understand storm life cycles and movement and then develop photographic techniques to capture the lightning strike, even in the daytime.
Please join me for a tour of my favorite images. Some are daytimers, some dusk and night shots. I hope you'll like them.
